City council finance chief Phil Halsall in £500,000 pay-off

LIVERPOOL council’s director of finance is set to depart the local authority with a £500,000 “golden handshake”, the Daily Post can reveal.

Phil Halsall, who earns £180,000 a year, will be seconded to one of the city’s joint venture partners, Enterprise plc, in October before taking early retirement in April next year.

Mr Halsall, 50, will receive an extra five years’ enhancement on his pension package, worth around £420,000, and a lump sum of £80,000.

It comes after the council was labelled the worst in the country in February because of the poor state of its finances, though Mr Halsall has always defended his own record.

How very nice indeed, hope everyone in Liverpool is happy with how their tax money is being spent. This is just typical of the political elite feathering their own nests, this man should of been sacked never mind given a big pay off for early retirement.

How many books could that buy for schools, how much sport equipment etc... Things like this will just continue to happen while people keep voting for the same politicians. Only the BNP will offer value for money to the tax payer and the BNP also pledges to fight against tax rises and also where possible cut tax.

Thousands lose their funeral expense cover!

THOUSANDS of people across Merseyside have been left without money to pay for their funerals.
Distressed pensioners last night vented their anger at Liverpool-based Medicash for withdrawing the benefit as of April 1.
Policy holders who thought their funeral costs were covered will now have to find the money themselves.
Medicash last night said it had been forced into the move by a third party insurer deciding not to cover them for the funeral costs.
The move also means more than 100,000 members of the health care cash plan provider will no longer be entitled to payments towards rehabilitation at home and convalescence.

This is a disgrace, pensioners should not have to worry about stupid things like this. I wonder if the government will step in and help these poor pensioners who may be forced to find money to cover funeral costs now.
Maybe if the government wasn't taxing pensioners to death and eating into their savings then they wouldn't have to worry about joining such schemes and would happily have a nice little savings for their funeral when they die.

Ex-culture boss Jason Harborow gets £230,000 pay off!

According to the Liverpool Daily post the Liverpool Ex-culture boss Jason Harborow has been given a £230,000 pay off. No doubt this has come at the Liverpool tax payers expense, we in the BNP are getting fed up with how these bumbling fools spend our money. We see these slimy politicians taking us all for a ride, we want this to END! Only by getting BNP councillors elected will we be able to stop this, BNP councillors will pledge to hold the council and its spending to account.
This news also comes after Liverpool was labelled the worst in the country for the way it spends money. This needs to change and we need to make sure OUR money is spent in ways to benefit the community. Down the east lancs the council have waisted thousands of pounds putting up stupid looking flags all the way into town. That money could of been spent on something better, maybe on cleaning/sand blasting some of our historic buildings to make them look good again.
