And there are ten schools without a single pupil who has English as a first language, new figures show.
Teachers say large concentrations of children with a poor grasp of English can lead to some schools being unfairly condemned by inspectors.
Parliamentary questions have revealed that in 2004, 452,388 primary school children spoke English as a second language. By last year this figure had increased by 113,500, a rise of almost exactly 25 per cent.
In secondary schools, the proportion of pupils who do not have English as their native language has increased from 8.8 per cent in 2004 to 10.6 per cent last year.
The soaring figures reflect the fact that immigration into the UK is now five times higher than when Labour came to power in 1997. Net immigration has increased from 48,000 that year to 237,000 in 2007.

Shadow immigration minister Damian Green said the figures suggest that almost a million primary and secondary pupils now speak English as a second language.
He said: 'These shocking figures illustrate how difficult life is for many teachers because of the Government's long-term failure to control immigration.

'They show why we badly need an annual limit on immigration.
'Australia has a limit which it has just reduced because of the recession - Britain should be able to do the same thing.
'The number of pupils with English as a second language makes life difficult for teachers, parents and pupils.
'Whether or not they can speak English, everyone suffers when it's more difficult for teachers in the classroom.
'This is also a huge pressure on local authorities trying to cope with uncontrolled immigration.'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-82323108354671684342009-03-19T00:07:00.000+00:002009-03-19T00:07:00.000+00:00Tuesday, March 17, 2009Heretical Two Finally Get A...Tuesday, March 17, 2009
Heretical Two Finally Get A Hearing

Simon Sheppard and Stephen Whittle have finally gotten their first hearing on their application for political asylum in the United States, after eight months in prison. Most asylum seekers with black or brown skins are routinely given low bail, or simply released into the community, and given a perfunctory court date at which they are politely asked to show up, in the full knowledge that's probably the last that will be seen of them unless and until they commit another crime and are arrested later.

Sheppard and Whittle, however, are Caucasian and dangerous thought criminals to boot, so they have been imprisoned for eight months for the "crime" of asking America to fulfill its promise and let them be free.

This is from Tony Hancock, with my own comments in red:

"To-day the Heretical Two's asylum hearing proceeded before the U. S. Immigration Judge, Her Honor Judge Rose Peters. Simon Sheppard and Steve Whittle were brought into court in handcuffs and leg irons. (The feds may have been afraid they might try to type.) They presented their own cases, as their attorney, Bruce Leichty, had withdrawn from the case by leave of the Court, since he was not satisfied with the substantial retainer that he had received from friends of Simon and Steve. (The right to counsel in certain courts and certain kinds of cases is a myth, as I myself can testify from personal experience.) The U. S. government was represented by its attorney, Miss Myers.

"The Court heard evidence from Simon and Steve about their experiences at the hands of the British police and Crown Prosecution Service, and also from their English counsel, Adrian Davies, who gave evidence about the relevant provisions of English law (the Public Order Act 1986, as amended) and the English court's assertion of jurisdiction over web pages hosted on a server located in Torrance, California.

"The hearing was conducted in a very fair, courteous and thorough manner, though inevitably Simon and Steve were at some disadvantage, because they are not lawyers, and are moreover being held in prison, where they have had very limited facilities to prepare for the hearing. After a lengthy sitting, the Court adjourned until 1 p.m., West Coast time, on 24th March."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-17695331649995611132009-03-18T20:25:00.000+00:002009-03-18T20:25:00.000+00:00HANG THEM!MORE than 46 kilos of heroin was seized ...HANG THEM!

MORE than 46 kilos of heroin was seized in a sleepy Merseyside Village after an alleged major drug deal was folied by officers from the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

Better known for the Lady Lever Art Gallery and as the historic home of the Lord Leverhulme, Port Sunlight in Wirral became the scene of the alleged £2m international deal at lunchtime on Friday.

Following surveillance of the alleged handover arrests were made later on the M53.

It is alleged that Mohsin Khan, 27, of Robson Avenue, London travelled to a meeting in Hull with Mario Tops, 48, of Toekomststraat, Belgium, but this was then moved to port Sunlight.

In what prosecutors claim forms part of a “major” long-term anti-drugs operation, SOCA officers pounced on two men, the latter a French national living in Belgium, the former having been under surveillance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-16403015825328973732009-03-18T20:16:00.000+00:002009-03-18T20:16:00.000+00:00Two-hundred face job cuts at Birkenhead shipbuilde...Two-hundred face job cuts at Birkenhead shipbuilder Cammell Laird

CAMMELL LAIRD bosses are to lay off up to 200 staff after plans to drop output to a four-day week were dropped.

The company had pitched the idea of reducing working days or introducing new shift patterns but after talks with union leaders it was decided to lay off staff instead.

Shipyard sources said the plans were put to workers before union bosses became involved in the discussions.

It is feared up to 200 jobs could be at risk at Laird’s out of a workforce of around 600, which rises to around 1,000 when indirect staff are counted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-49765235319922870022009-03-18T19:51:00.000+00:002009-03-18T19:51:00.000+00:00America Created It's Own Money in 1750How Benjamin...America Created It's Own Money in 1750
How Benjamin Franklin Made New England Prosperous
The following historical story is taken from a radio address given by Congressman Charles G. Binderup of Nebraska, some 50 years ago and was reprinted in Unrobing the Ghosts of Wall Street:

Colonies More Prosperous Than The Home Country
Before the American War for Independence in 1776, the colonized part of what is today the United States of America was a possession of England. It was called New England, and was made up of 13 colonies, which became the first 13 states of the great Republic. Around 1750, this New England was very prosperous. Benjamin Franklin was able to write:

"There was abundance in the Colonies, and peace was reigning on every border. It was difficult, and even impossible, to find a happier and more prosperous nation on all the surface of the globe. Comfort was prevailing in every home. The people, in general, kept the highest moral standards, and education was widely spread."

When Benjamin Franklin went over to England to represent the interests of the Colonies, he saw a completely different situation: the working population of this country was gnawed by hunger and poverty. "The streets are covered with beggars and tramps," he wrote. He asked his English friends how England, with all its wealth, could have so much poverty among its working classes.

His friends replied that England was a prey to a terrible condition: it had too many workers! The rich said they were already overburdened with taxes, and could not pay more to relieve the needs and poverty of this mass of workers. Several rich Englishmen of that time actually believed, along with Mathus, that wars and plague were necessary to rid the country from man-power surpluses.

Franklin's friends then asked him how the American Colonies managed to collect enough money to support their poor houses, and how they could overcome this plague of pauperism. Franklin replied:

"We have no poor houses in the Colonies; and if we had some, there would be nobody to put in them, since there is, in the Colonies, not a single unemployed person, neither beggars nor tramps."

Thanks To Free Money Issued By The Nation
His friends could not believe their ears, and even less understand this fact, since when the English poor houses and jails became too cluttered, England shipped these poor wretches and down-and- outs, like cattle, and discharged, on the quays of the Colonies, those who had survived the poverty, dirtiness and privations of the journey. At that time, England was throwing into jail those who could not pay their debts. They therefore asked Franklin how he could explain the remarkable prosperity of the New England Colonies. Franklin replied:

"That is simple. In the Colonies, we issue our own paper money. It is called 'Colonial Scrip.' We issue it in proper proportion to make the goods and pass easily from the producers to the consumers. In this manner, creating ourselves our own paper money, we control its purchasing power and we have no interest to pay to no one."

The Bankers Impose Poverty
The information came to the knowledge of the English Bankers, and held their attention. They immediately took the necessary steps to have the British Parliament to pass a law that prohibited the Colonies from using their scrip money, and then ordered them to use only the gold and silver money that was provided in sufficient quantity by the English bankers. Then began in America the plague of debt-money, which has never since brought so many curses to the American people.

The first law was passed in 1751, and then completed by a more restrictive law in 1763. Franklin reported that one year after the implementation of this prohibition on Colonial money, the streets of the Colonies were filled with unemployment and beggars, just like in England, because there was not enough money to pay for the goods and work. The circulating medium of exchange had been reduced by half.

Franklin added that this was the original cause of the American Revolution - and not the tax on tea nor the Stamp Act, as it has been taught again and again in history books. The financiers always manage to have removed from school books all that can throw light on their own schemes, and damage the glow that protects their power.

Franklin, who was one of the chief architects of the American independence, wrote it clearly:

"The Colonies would gladly have borne the little tax on tea and other matters had it not been the poverty caused by the bad influence of the English bankers on the Parliament, which has caused in the Colonies hatred of England and the Revolutionary War."

This point of view of Franklin was confirmed by great statesmen of his era: John Adams, Jefferson, and several others. A remarkable English historian, John Twells, wrote, speaking of the money of the Colonies, the Colonial Scrip:

"It was the monetary system under which America's Colonies flourished to such an extent that Edmund Burke was able to write about them: 'Nothing in the history of the world resembles their progress. It was a sound and beneficial system, and its effects led to the happiness of the people.'" John Twells adds:

"In a bad hour, the British Parliament took away from America its representative money, forbade any further issue of bills of credit, these bills ceasing to be legal tender, and ordered that all taxes should be paid in coins. Consider now the consequences: this restriction of the medium of exchange paralyzed all the industrial energies of the people. Ruin took place in these once flourishing Colonies; most rigorous distress visited every family and every business, discontent became desperation, and reached a point, to use the words of Dr. Johnson, when human nature rises up and assets its rights."

Another writer, Peter Cooper, expresses himself along the same lines. After having said how Franklin had explained to the London Parliament the cause of the prosperity of the Colonies, he wrote:

"After Franklin gave explanations on the true cause of the prosperity of the Colonies, the Parliament exacted laws forbidding the use of this money in the payment of taxes. This decision brought so many drawbacks and so much poverty to the people that it was the main cause of the Revolution. The suppression of the Colonial money was a much more important reason for the general uprising than the Tea and Stamp Act."

Today, in America as well as in Europe, we are under the regime of the Scrip of the Bankers instead of the scrip of the nation. Hence the public debts, everlasting interest charges, taxes that plunder purchasing power, with the only result being a consolidation of the financial dictatorship.

There is only one cure for America's ultimate financial collapse and that is for Congress to exercise Clause 30 of the "Federal" Reserve Act, buy the outstanding shares of stock, shut down this unconstitutional system and sell off their assets to reimburse the people of this nation for this unspeakable theft of their wealth. This is the first installment of postings on this issue, new ones will be put up as soon as manpower allowsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-37895239383908831652009-03-18T11:09:00.000+00:002009-03-18T11:09:00.000+00:00The Titanic2 the BNP and the loony left The labour...The Titanic2 the BNP and the loony left
The labour party invite all on to the titanic to be enriched! Then the Bank of England sprang to the rescue, announcing that it would spend tens of billions of pounds acquiring government bonds. Gilts surged in response to this news. Economists applauded. Their reactions are mistaken. Quantitative easing, as it is called, poses a grave danger to Britain’s creditors. It is a perilous policy that threatens further disruption to the financial system at some future date.

On Thursday March 5, the Bank of England said it would acquire up to £75bn of gilts over the following three months. A further £75bn of Bank purchases have been earmarked. Relative to the size of the British economy, these are vast sums. The combined figure is roughly three times the stock of notes and coins in circulation and twice the country’s monetary base. It is also equal to almost a third of the stock of outstanding gilts. Put another way, the Bank is set to finance the largest peacetime deficit in British history.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-78633440193762530022009-03-17T22:44:00.000+00:002009-03-17T22:44:00.000+00:00Enemies of free speech online are everywhereIntern...Enemies of free speech online are everywhereInternet censorship can be a profitable enterprise in the west, not just a matter of political control in authoritarian regimesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5204024056013322114.post-16138560406067749982009-03-17T22:41:00.000+00:002009-03-17T22:41:00.000+00:00More than 1m jobs to goBy Brian Groom and Nicholas...More than 1m jobs to go
By Brian Groom and Nicholas Timmins

Published: March 17 2009 02:00 | Last updated: March 17 2009 02:00

More than a million British workers will lose their jobs over the next two years as the recession takes an unexpected turn, hitting the north and Midlands as badly as the south, a leading economic forecaster has warned.

The West Midlands, Wales and the north of England could take more than a decade to recover from job losses that are forecast to rival those in London, according to Oxford Economics, the consultancy.

Fresh unemployment figures due to be published tomorrow are expected to show a widespread rise in UK joblessness during the three months to January, taking the national total above 2m.
